Exciting News: Reliance Jio, the popular Indian telecom company, has launched a new phone called “Jio Bharat” that brings internet services to everyone at an affordable price. The phone costs only Rs 999 and is aimed at providing internet access to people who may not have smartphones.
The Jio Bharat phone has a small screen, a T9 keypad, a basic camera, and even supports FM radio. Despite its simple features, the phone offers a range of internet-enabled services. You can use Jio Pay for making UPI payments, enjoy music streaming with JioSaavn, and even watch live sports and other content on the go with Jio Cinema.
Reliance Jio also offers affordable tariff plans for this 4G feature phone. For just Rs 123 per month, you get unlimited voice calls and 0.5GB of data per day (14GB in total) with a validity of 28 days. Alternatively, you can choose the annual plan for Rs 1,234, which provides the same benefits and saves you 16% compared to the monthly plan.
Reliance Jio claims that its tariff plans for 4G feature phones are 30% cheaper than those of its competitors. This Jio Bharat phone is just the beginning, as other phone brands like Karbonn will also adopt this platform to create affordable 4G feature phones priced below Rs 1,000.
If you’re interested in getting the Jio Bharat phone, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in a “beta trial” starting from July 7. Reliance Jio aims to make this phone available in over 6,500 tehsils across India, with a target of reaching one billion 4G feature phone users. This initiative could mark the end of 2G and Edge networks in India.
