Aditya L1 Launch: India’s First Solar Mission

India has successfully launched its first solar mission, Aditya L1, on September 2, 2023, from Sriharikota. For those who enjoy gazing at the sky, this year’s Raksha Bandhan will be especially memorable. A Super Blue Moon will be visible on Wednesday, August 30. This unusual occurrence is a result of the Blue Moon and Supermoon occurring on the same day as Raksha Bandhan, a significant Hindu holiday.

The Super Blue Moon will appear on Wednesday and reach its peak brightness at 6:07 am IST on August 31 at 8:37 pm EDT (8:37 pm EDT). But keep in mind that India will have a different time. In many Indian cities, beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, you can view the Super Blue Moon.

The so-called “blue” moon won’t actually look blue, despite the name. It will be a cool orange color instead. It’s incredibly special to witness a Super Blue Moon of this caliber since they don’t occur frequently.

Chandrayaan-3 Rover Gears Up for Lunar Surface

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has shown a video of the Chandrayaan-3 Rover moving from the Lander to the Moon’s surface. Everything is going as planned, and the Rover is ready for its job. The lander’s different systems are working well, and the Rover’s wheels are rolling. Also, there’s an image taken by the camera on the ‘Vikram Lander’ showing the Moon just before the landing.

Jitendra Singh, a union minister, called it “amazing” and shared the video. This comes after ISRO shared that Chandrayaan-3’s Rover had successfully moved out of the lander and started moving on the Moon’s surface.

This big step comes after the historic landing on the Moon’s unexplored south pole.

The lander, which carries the rover called Pragyan, safely touched down on the Moon. ISRO’s chairman S Somanath said it landed exactly where they planned it to, in an area about 4.5 km by 2.5 km.

The plan now is for the rover to explore the Moon’s surface. It’s carrying instruments to study the Moon’s minerals, atmosphere, and even its seismic activity. ISRO said all systems are working well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised ISRO for making this possible and thanked leaders from around the world for congratulating India on its success.

Chandrayaan-3 Nears Moon Landing

India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission has just completed a very important move as it gets ready to land on the Moon. The spacecraft successfully did its fifth orbit maneuver, which brought it even closer to the Moon’s surface.

Now, the spacecraft is getting ready for the next step. This step involves separating the part of the spacecraft that helps it move (the propulsion module) from the part that will land on the Moon (the lander module). Inside the lander module, there are two important parts: the lander named Vikram and a rover called Pragyan.

Today’s successful move was done for a short time, and it placed Chandrayaan-3 in a special path around the Moon. This part of the mission is now done. The next thing is to get ready for the propulsion module and the lander module to start their separate journeys. This separation is planned to happen on August 17.

Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14, and it got closer to the Moon on August 5. Since then, it did a few more moves to get even closer. The plan is for the spacecraft to gently land in a special area on the Moon’s southern part on August 23.

ISRO, the space agency of India, is working step by step to make sure everything goes smoothly. They are doing different moves to make the spacecraft go lower in its path and get ready for the landing. It’s a really exciting mission for India!

India’s space agency, ISRO, has achieved a major milestone as its ambitious Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft has departed from Earth’s orbit and started its journey towards the Moon.

ISRO confirmed the success of placing Chandrayaan-3 into the translunar orbit, which means the spacecraft has completed its orbit around Earth and is now on its way to the Moon’s orbit through a path called ‘Lunar Transfer Trajectory’.

The next crucial step, known as ‘Lunar-Orbit Insertion’ (LOI), is planned for August 5, when the spacecraft will enter the Moon’s orbit after leaving Earth’s orbit at midnight on Monday. On August 17, the lander module will separate from the population module, and the lander will safely touch down on the Moon’s surface on August 23 at 5.47 pm.

ISRO officials have confirmed that the launch operation went as per schedule, and the spacecraft is in normal condition.

Chandrayaan-3 consists of a lander, a rover, and a propulsion module. The lander and rover will conduct experiments at the Moon’s south pole for 14 days. ISRO aims to study lunar surface earthquakes and analyze lunar soil during this mission. The agency plans to softly land the lander on the Moon’s surface on August 23.

Spaceweather.com reports that the rocket temporarily disrupted the ionosphere, a critical layer of the Earth’s atmosphere made up of charged particles known as ions. This layer is crucial to the occurrence of atmospheric phenomena, such as the production of aurora during geomagnetic storms.

The launch was accompanied by a red glow, which was caused by the creation of an ionospheric “hole.”

Rockets burning their engines at heights of around 200 to 300 kilometers above the surface of the Earth is a well-studied phenomena, according to Boston University space scientist Jeff Baumgardner, who examined the launch footage.

With the Falcon 9 rocket, a similar issue has occurred before. Similar occurrences in prior launches had place in August 2017 and June 19, 2022.
