Twitter’s owner, Elon Musk, declared today that the website X.com will henceforth link visitors to Twitter.com. He also claimed that a “interim X logo” will take the place of the Twitter bird logo.

Musk had been discussing this shift for some time, tweeting about Twitter becoming “X.” He even said they would go live globally with an X logo if one was posted that was good enough.

Musk tweeted about the move all night long and engaged in conversation with other users. He joined a Twitter Spaces session and joked that they would use blowtorches to remove the Twitter logo from the structure as confirmation that the change in the logo would take place.

Musk also informed Twitter staff of the renaming in an email, adding that it was his final time emailing them from a Twitter address.

Although the new logo has not been made official, a gif sent by Sawyer Merritt on Twitter is being evaluated.

In Musk’s business endeavors, the letter “X” has long been prominent, appearing in a number of company and product names. PayPal’s first name was X.com, and it’s also used in the names of the Tesla and SpaceX SUVs. Musk has said he wants Twitter to become “X, the everything app.”

Since Musk acquired Twitter last year, the company’s identity has undergone a substantial transformation. Other improvements made while it was under his management include restricting direct messages (DMs) for non-paying users and adding a hiring option for Verified Organizations.

Twitter also intends to enable users to write lengthy and intricate articles on the platform, which was formerly known as “Articles” and “Notes.”

India’s ambitious lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, took off successfully from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced the successful separation of the satellite into orbit, marking a significant achievement in the mission to the moon.

If the mission accomplishes a “soft” landing on the moon’s surface, India will become the fourth country to achieve this feat, following the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union.

Chandrayaan-3 includes a lander named Vikram and a rover named Pragyan. Its purpose is to conduct scientific experiments on the lunar surface. The new version of the lander has been equipped with stronger legs to handle landings at higher velocities. Vikram carries four payloads, while Pragyan carries two payloads, which will be utilized to study lunar characteristics.

In 2019, India’s second lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2, was launched but did not achieve a successful soft landing on the moon. The unmanned mission, costing ₹978 crore, encountered a setback when the lander lost communication with ground stations at an altitude of 2.1 km from the moon’s surface.

The launch of Chandrayaan-3 represents a significant step forward for India’s space exploration endeavors, bringing the nation closer to its goal of exploring the moon and expanding scientific knowledge about Earth’s celestial neighbor.

Professor Avi Loeb from Harvard University believes he may have found evidence of extraterrestrial life. He and his team recently analyzed fragments from a meteor that crashed off the coast of Papua New Guinea in 2014.

According to CBS News, the materials were brought back to Harvard for examination. The U.S. Space Command has determined with a high degree of certainty that the meteor originated from another solar system, with a 99.999% confidence level. The government provided Loeb with a designated area of approximately 10 kilometers where the meteor may have landed.

Loeb explained that the government detected the fireball caused by the meteor’s entry into Earth’s atmosphere, which helped pinpoint its general location. The team calculated the distance of the fireball based on the time delay between the arrival of the blast wave, the explosion sound, and the light.

As per USA Today, the fragments discovered by the team are believed to be from a meteorite the size of a basketball that crashed into the Earth’s atmosphere and the western Pacific Ocean in 2014.

Loeb noted that the meteor’s origin is from outside our solar system, and it traveled at a speed faster than most stars near the sun. The team found ten distinct metallic marbles, referred to as spherules, which display unique colors such as gold, blue, and brown. Some of them even resemble miniatures of the Earth when viewed under a microscope.

The research, published in the journal Behaviour & Information Technology, involved surveying 288 participants between the ages of 18 and 34 to understand the connection between different styles of social media engagement and emotional well-being.

The study focused on three types of social media use: passive, active non-social, and active social. Passive use involved solely consuming content from others, while active non-social use entailed sharing one’s own content without engaging directly with others. On the other hand, active social use included both posting personal content and interacting with other users and their posts.

The findings revealed that increased passive social media use was associated with higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stress. Interestingly, creating and sharing content without engaging with others directly had a positive impact on reducing stress.

Constantina Panourgia, the corresponding author of the study and a senior lecturer in developmental psychology at Bournemouth University, explained that active non-social media use, which allows users to receive feedback such as likes and positive comments on their posts without the pressure of constant social interactions, had beneficial effects on stress levels.

Panourgia also noted that passive social media use lacks opportunities for communication and self-expression, which are important for fostering connection and social support. This can lead to feelings of isolation and exclusion, ultimately resulting in increased stress, anxiety, and depression.

The study serves as a reminder that excessive scrolling through social media feeds may have negative consequences for mental health. It highlights the importance of balancing online interactions and actively participating in social media rather than simply observing others’ content. Taking breaks from social media and engaging in meaningful offline activities can also contribute to overall well-being.

This remarkable galaxy is located more than 700 million light-years away in the constellation Aquarius. The snapshot shared on NASA’s ‘nasahubble’ Instagram page reveals JW209 as a graceful jellyfish swimming through the dark emptiness of space. In the caption, NASA explains the spiral structure of JW209. The galaxy has a bright inner disk adorned with spots of bluish and reddish star formation scattered throughout its arms. Surrounding the galaxy is an outer disk of pale, faint dust that adds to its beauty. However, what truly mesmerizes the viewer is the sight of several arms being pulled away from the disk, stretching into long, dim trails that crisscross the image. The scene is further enhanced by three bright stars shining against the dark background.

Jellyfish galaxies get their name because they have tendrils of bright star formation that resemble the tentacles of an aquatic animal.

These tendrils form as a result of interactions with the intra-cluster medium, which is the gas and dust found between galaxies. These interactions pull gas towards the galaxy, creating unique conditions for star formation.
